To escape the bad memories and attention of her classmates, Emily is sent to an all-girl boarding school where she struggles with grief and guilt, expressing her emotions through poetry and getting a little help from the spirit of Emily Dickinson.

This book has a ton of poems in it and is great for anyone who enjoys poetry or a touch of the supernatural.

Casualties of War by Chris Lynch

Beck enlists in the army with his three friends during the Vietnam War. After witnessing seven deaths and narrowly avoiding capture, he is sent home briefly to reunite with his family. Upon returning to Vietnam, Beck is sent to work as a mechanic for the Air Force. Things go well until the reality of war once again catches up with him.

This book is recommended to those interested in the Vietnam War.
